Miss Ellie's Tea RoomLoose Leaf Tea

Lipton Tea is what I started drinking with my mom when I was little.  I remember clearly sitting with my mother enjoying a hot cup of tea and reading stories.  That is part of what makes tea so special, it is more than a drink, it is a way to facilitate bonding, to form relationships, to make memories.  Lipton Tea is one of the most readily available brand of teas in the United States, it can be found in the aisles of almost every major grocery store. Most of the tea that is sold by Lipton is sold in tea bags, as this is the most common way that tea is prepared in the US.  True, most Lipton tea is not high end gourmet tea, but it is usually pretty good.  Lipton Tea sells primarily black tea but has expanded to offer more specialty teas.  Tea is sold by Lipton in tea leaf and ready to drink forms.  Lipton Yellow Label is what all of the black leaf teas are sold under.  Lipton black tea is a blend of teas from all over the world that are carefully selected to yield the desired flavor.

Lipton Tea, while readily available for purchase in the US, is moderately priced, not terribly expensive nor is it the bottom of the barrel.  Lipton Tea was formed at the end of the 1800s by Thomas J. Lipton.  After being acquired by several different companies it is now own by Unilever. In a commitment to sustainability in 2007 Unilever was the first company to commit to ensuring all of its tea growing and sourcing were done in a sustainable manner.  In partnership with the Rainforest Alliance Lipton announced that all of its tea bags would be certified sustainable by 2015.  This is a huge step for the protection of the environment. In the UK Lipton tea is not as readily available for purchase, in fact only the iced tea and fruit teas are found currently in grocery stores.
